Job Description


Reporting to the Quality Manager, the successful candidate will assist with the management of the Quality Assurance program at the Niagara Falls plant including monitoring product quality attributes and assure compliance to product specifications; assisting with initiation and maintenance of policies and programs associated with the Quality Assurance program for finished products, raw materials and packaging supplies.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Directly supervises and directs the activities of Quality Control Technicians to ensure that Quality Assurance standards are consistent with established policies.
  • Coordinates Post’s Quality Systems approach to Quality management by implementing programs, policies, procedures and processes which comply with company, plant and government regulations.
  • Ensures the maintenance of Quality Standards and Specifications within the operation and notes areas which negatively affect product and process quality. Coordinates, recommends and implements corrective actions to address any discrepancies.
  • Updates and maintains Quality Assurance specifications and procedural manuals as required.
  • Assists with the monitoring of daily Quality Assurance programs including HACCP, allergens, sanitation, etc and conducts periodic plant GMP and internal audits and inspections and communicates the findings to the appropriate personnel.
  • Administers and directs the analytical, microbiological and physical analyses of materials, in process, finished packaged product to ensure compliance with Post’s standards and specifications as well as compliance with governmental legislation.
  • Performs certain analytical analysis' that are outside the scope of the hourly Quality Assurance Technicians.
  • Maintains all laboratories and line inspection equipment that is used by the Quality Assurance Technicians and recommend repairs or replacement as necessary.
  • Assists with the training of hourly and administrative personnel in GMP’s, HACCP, SQF and related topics.
  • Completion of any required reports required by the QA Manager and any other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology or Chemistry.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in food quality including experience in Quality Systems in a food production environment.
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in a supervisory role within a unionized work environment.
  • Additional knowledge in HACCP, SPC, and Allergen Control Programs preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with other department staff, company officials and customers;
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written; ability to conduct training sessions is an asset;
  • Expertise in the use of statistical concepts in the control of manufacturing operations;
  • Individual must thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment;
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of Microsoft Office
