KEY RESULT AREAS:

The primary objective of this role is to ensure effective, accurate administration of the Company’s welfare plans, including group life, supplemental life, short term disability, long term disability and voluntary personal accident, for all active employee groups in the United States and Canada and retirees, if applicable.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Administer, coordinate and monitor all processes, with vendors at the corporate level and with benefit coordinators at the plant level on claims managements, to ensure the timely filing and payment of group life and disability claims. Proactively identify problems and issues and work with vendors towards resolution.
  • Responsibilities include assisting all employees with questions regarding claim inquiries.
  • Provide benefit coordinators with assistance regarding coverage, eligibility, enrollment and claims questions as well as provide training and education on administration of welfare plan benefits.
  • Coordinate with internal departments such as Human Resources, Payroll and Accounting to ensure proper recording and administration of plans.
  • Assistance with annual benefit plan re-enrollment activities, including process coordination of new benefits with the vendor/plants, enrollment form data entry and fielding employee benefits questions.
  • Assist with integration of benefits to recently acquired employer groups by presenting new benefits and providing support to employees with enrollment activities. Responsibilities will require some travel to plant locations.
  • Facilitate and maintain the Evidence of Insurability (EOI) process, which includes the filing of all EOI forms for Group/Supplemental Life and Long Term Disability.
  • Responsible for maintaining monthly Leave of Absence logs and file appropriate Waiver of Premium paperwork for Life claims.
  • Pay premiums/fees on fully insured and self insured plans to insurance companies/vendors. Update cost reports for use by management.
  • Responsible for annual Benefit Earnings update process.
  • Assist management with FAS 106 reporting requirements by collecting and reporting claims payment information on retiree life plans.
  • Prepare monthly, annual and ad hoc reports for management.
  • Prepare and file 5500 reports. Ensure timely and accurate filing of reports.
  • Serve as back up to Benefits Coordinator to conduct new employee orientation for new hires at Corporate.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure that benefits administration, internal and external, is conducted in accordance with federal and state legislation regulating employee benefit plans.
  • Update benefits applications in payroll system for purpose of implementing new benefits plans and changing benefits payroll deductions.
  • Serve as back up to Health Plan Benefits Coordinators.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.


WORKING RELATIONSHIP:
  • Maintaining solid working relationships with plant HR/benefit coordinators, vendors and Corporate Payoll/HRIS employees will be required.
  • Individual must be able to interact with all levels of employees on a company-wide basis.

Job Qualifications

  • BS Business Administration or Human Resources or equivalent experience
  • 3 – 5 years benefits administration experience
  • Computer skills should include proficiency in Excel, Word, Access and Powerpoint.
  • Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills necessary.
  • Project Management experience desired.
