Job Description


Reporting to the Plant Manager, the successful candidate is responsible for producing the highest quality products in the most effective and efficient manner, consistent with Company schedules, policies and regulatory compliance.
The incumbent is also responsible for the direct supervision of operations supervisors, maintenance, warehouse as well as production planning. In addition, the individual has responsibility for efficiency, yield, safety, as well as absenteeism.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Fosters and maintains a positive labor relations environment by ensuring that all employees are treated with respect and ensures a climate of open communication.
  • Control and effectively utilize the production capacity, manpower, equipment, and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling to minimize losses and to optimize profitability.
  • Assist supervisors to ensure effective staffing levels to meet production requirements through selection and needed resources to provide for highly skilled cross-functional employees. This would include consultation of development, performance management and corrective action.
  • Develops and empowers supervisors to effectively address day to day operational needs.
  • Coordinate with Production Scheduling on efficient run strategies and adjust schedules between shifts as necessary to maintain full production.
  • Evaluate, modify, and design production policies and procedures to ensure product quality and integrity, and ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and environmental regulations.
  • Ensure continuous improvements at all levels and in all processes within scope of responsibility.
  • Ensure products meet all identified product tolerances and product specifications.
  • Create an environment of employee participation, empowerment, and a true stakeholder mentality.
  • Formulate and manage the control of all budgeted processes including labor costs, supply costs, equipment costs, and outside contractor costs.
  • Participate in and help develop business goals as required.
  • Work effectively with outside vendors, customers, and officials.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and attainment of the SQF certification process.

Job Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict and build teams;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills;
  • Individual must be self-directed, have high initiative, results oriented and an agent for change;
  • Experience in mentoring and motivating employees across all levels;
  • Individual must thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment;
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

EDUCATION:
  • B.S. degree in Business, Manufacturing, Food Production, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in managing operations in a food production environment preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in a management role within a unionized work environment.
